INGREDIENT GLOSSARY
Almond Meal:
High in vitamin E, B vitamins, trace minerals and skin nurturing fatty acids. Almond Meal is used as a gentle exfoliant.
Aloe Vera:
An emollient with hydrating, softening, healing, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It has a relaxing effect making it beneficial for sensitive and sun exposed skin. Important constituents are minerals, amino acids, and mucilage from mucopolysaccharides.
Apricot Oil:
An emollient that acts as an occlusive and moisturizing agent, with a high vitamin E content that aids in retaining elasticity, clarity, and suppleness for the skin. The oil is extracted from the apricot kernel by expression. Ideal for oily, combination and acneic skin types.
Beeswax:
One of the oldest raw ingredients used in cosmetic preparations for its anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, antioxidant, antibacterial, germicidal, skin softening, and elasticity enhancing properties.
Behenyl Alcohol:
A binder and an emulsion stabilizer. Often used to increase a formulation’s viscosity. This is a mixture of fatty alcohols.
Blue Chamomile Essential Oil:
Considered a capillary wall constrictor, anti-allergenic agent, and antiseptic, cooling, analgesic, emollient, and healing.
BTMS–50:
A vegetable based conditioning emulsifier.
Calendula Essential Oil:
Increases ground substance in tissue, enhances immune response, prevents scarring, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and increases skins ability to hold moisture.
Calendula Extract:
An emollient with wound healing, soothing, antiseptic, anti-itching, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Carrot Seed Essential Oil:

Castor Oil:
Highly emollient carrier oil that penetrates the skin easily, leaving it soft and supple. Castor oil is known for its cleansing and healing properties including lymph cleansing, anti-microbial properties, circulatory stimulation, and hair growth.
Cetearyl Alcohol/Ceteareth 20:
Emollient, emulsifying and stabilizing wax combining fatty alcohols, used for high viscosity in products. Cetearyl Alchohol is produced from the reduction of plant oils and natural waxes.
Chamomile Extract:
Considered a capillary wall constrictor, anti-allergenic agent, antiseptic, cooling, analgesic, emollient, and healing. It has been found to be good for treating burns and skin inflammations as well as dermatitis.

Clary Sage Flower Essence:

Cocoa Butter:
A vegetable fat solid that liquefies to soften and lubricate the skin. Has a long history of use for the prevention of scarring, stretchmarks, and dryness.
Coconut Oil:
A soft, white, semisolid oil comprised of medium chain fatty acids. This stable carrier oil expressed from coconut kernels, has a mild cleansing action and antimicrobial properties, while helping the skin maintain its moisture content.
Cucumber Hydrosol:
Cucumber water. Moisture binding, moisture regulating, soothing, tightening, anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory, softening, refreshing, and healing. Strengthens the skin’s acid mantle.
Echinacea:
Antiseptic, antibacterial, increases immunity and healing, while soothing and moisturizing the skin.
Elder Flower:
A mildly astringent and gentle stimulant. A diaphoretic that keeps the sudoriferous glands clean for a healthy, clear complexion.
Frankincense Essential Oil:
Known for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, promotes cell regeneration, sun protection, wound healing, addresses hyperpigmentation, while being astringent and antiseptic to help balance all skin types
Geranium Essential Oil:

Glycerin:
A humectant used in moisturizers as it is water binding and able to draw and absorb water from the air, helping the skin maintain its moisture.
Gotu Kola Extract:
Soothing, anti-itching, cellular renewal and healing for dermatological conditions of severely dry skin such as psoriasis. Promotes circulation, sun protection and burn healing, and is an anti-cellulite promoter.
Grape Alcohol:
This 190 proof ethanol is suitable for both internal consumption and cosmetic use. Grape alcohol is astringent and humectant without over drying, making it ideal for toners, lotions, and creams.
Grapeseed Oil:
Moisturizing and nourishing due to its high content of linoleic acid. Highly emollient and ideal for dry, dehydrated, and mature skin types.
Green Tea Extract: (50% EGCG) –
A powerful antioxidant, astringent, and circulatory stimulant with the ability to penetrate cells to protect them from free radicals and damage. It is also known for its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, while also reducing swelling.

Helichrysm flower water. Decreases UVB-induced erythema on sunburned skin and helps prevent development of sunburns due to its photo-protective properties. Honey:

Hydroxyethyl Cellulose:
Used as a thickener, binder, stabilizer, and suspending agent, obtained from wood pulp.

Jojoba Oil:
Jojoba oil is an emollient liquid wax that comes from the seed of the Jojoba plant and is the oil that most resembles the natural sebum oil of the skin. It is very stable, resisting rancidity, increasing permeability, and balancing skin function.
Kaolin Clay:
A noncomedogenic mixture of various aluminum silicates having the ability to adhere to the skin’s surface, as an appropriate absorbent for the oil and sweat secreted by the skin. Kaolin clay eliminates impurities, renews cell cycles, cools inflamed skin, and increases pore elasticity.
